What is consider as FYP in Tiktok?

Many gurus and sifus out there share various FYP (For You Page) content formulas, but are these formulas truly effective? Before diving in, let's clarify that this isn’t an attempt to defame any gurus, coaches, or sifus who teach these methods.

What Does FYP Mean for Your Content?

Is it about getting 100 views? 1,000 views? 10,000 views? Or even 1 million views? First, let's understand the purpose of getting your content on the FYP. Are you aiming solely for brand exposure, or are you trying to drive sales?

If exposure is your goal, creating viral content might be relatively straightforward. But if you want to generate sales, it’s a different story—one that requires understanding a key formula:

GMV = Traffic x Average Order Value x Conversion Rate

Now, consider this: even if TikTok gives your video 1 million views, if it doesn’t convert, you’re left with nothing (1M views x 0 conversion = RM0).

What Does Traffic Really Mean for Your Video Content?

Is it about being funny? Following trending dances? Or crafting a short film-like story? The truth is, it depends. But how can you grow your traffic and get your content on the FYP? Here are some tips from my experience:

  • The First 3 Seconds Matter: How many scenes do you show in the first 3 seconds? Have you conveyed what you want to show right away?

  • Product vs. Fame: Are you showcasing a product, or are you trying to build your personal brand?

  • Viewer Engagement: Is your content something people will want to watch until the end? Does it convince even you to finish watching?

There are many factors to consider if you want to improve your content’s performance. These are just the fundamentals, especially if you're unsure where to start.

So, What Counts as FYP-Worthy Content?

From my observations, TikTok's algorithm categorizes content as follows:

  • Boring Content: Less than 150 views

  • Okay Content: Less than 350 views

  • Decent Content: 800 views

  • Potential Content: 1,500 views

  • Great Content: 2,000 views

  • Engaging Content: 3,000 views

  • Sales-Driving Content: 5,000 views

And content that continuously drives sales will naturally reach much higher numbers. However, remember that these are rough estimates based on my experience. Your mileage may vary, and I encourage you to share your experiences as well.
